If you live long enough, you see a lot of things and if you are smart enough, you also learn from them.
Change makes many people nervous. I suppose it is the (fear of the) unknown and the undeniable comfort in wanting to retain the status quo.
When things remain the same everyone knows how to act or react. At least that is the perception. Funny thing though, situations change constantly but change is the only permanent thing around us. We can decide to change whenever things go wrong.
We can learn new things or go a different direction. We can change something next week, or next month, or next year, or never. It is all upon us. We are also at liberty to do nothing. We can pretend that all is well, and bury heads in the sand. And if the idea of having to change ourselves makes us uncomfortable, we can remain the same. Again, the final choice is ours.
I believe our circumstances are not dictated by the universe, but ourselves: our thoughts and feelings, created our circumstances, driven by past choices. We have both the ability and the responsibility to make better choices beginning today.
But often this gets clouded because people often do not look at what are the dreams, the driving force, what brings joy, and how trust can be in the process.
Most people feel a spurt of energy when things go right and when thing go wrong, a drain. Finding the dreams and going after them will take us through even the toughest obstacles.
The point is, don’t fight it. Don’t fear it. Don’t regret. Don’t ignore change. Nobody likes to be ignored. Even when you have to let people go. Even when you have to let possessions go. Even when you have to let dreams go.
You have to remind yourself to treasure and appreciate change. Try not to devalue the small steps on your way.
A tiny step plus another, towards the right direction can be the most powerful act in your journey of life. It might end up being the drop that will stir up your ocean, a whole new world of opportunities and achievement.
Change is a friend, to be embraced. If this was not a part of life there would not be the ability to try new things, learn new things, meet new people, travel, and grow. It is exactly what moves people to rise higher and achieve what life is meant to be for each and every one of us.
“Change is evolution. Change is revolution. Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future,”
John F Kennedy.
